Jewel Box Addition - La Jolla SP Gardens - Susanna Pagan Landscape Design is delighted to introduce "Jewel Box Addition - La Jolla," a captivating landscaping design for a small outdoor space. This unique space is located in beautiful coastal La Jolla, and represents our passion for quality and detail for clients from Cardiff By The Sea, Carlsbad, Encinitas, and beyond. The process began with a comprehensive consultation to determine the vision for the outdoor space. Our skilled design team was faced with a slope, so we creatively designed tiered garden beds that could solve drainage and access issues, while enhancing and elevating the landscape. The materials sourced were of the highest quality and sourced locally to be sustainable and in harmony with the surrounding environment. Natural stone pathways, a design precedent, connect the various areas, and drought tolerant plants are used in recognition and respect of the coastal climate, while further supporting the vision of conserving water without sacrificing beauty. The Jewel Box Addition features a burst of color year around with a succulent garden, a seating space that is protected with dense lush greenery, and a custom built fire pit for evening gatherings under the stars. Native plants such as California lilac and red yucca were incorporated to respect the coastal landscape while supporting native wildlife, ecology, and a biodiversity of native plants for the property. Our detail-oriented design process is evidenced in the carefully considered plant selection and the aesthetic relationship of hardscape materials both individually and with the surrounding landscape. In the end, we were able to create a design that went above and beyond our client's expectations. We designed an outdoor sanctuary that accommodated their vision while creating a reflective place for enjoying the outdoors and improving their home.
