About This Project

LA Jolla: Muirlands Beauty Located in the stunning hillside community of La Jolla is the 'Muirlands Beauty' by SP Gardens - Susanna Pagan Landscape Design. This represents our dedication to quality landscape design. We converted a previously neglected outdoor living space into a truly beautiful escape that unifies beauty and functionality. Besides factoring in drought-tolerant plants and native plants in Southern California, we also desired a palette of colors and textures that thrive in the Mediterranean climate. The landscape features beautiful choices of succulents, perennial flowering plants, and ornamental grasses creating a special atmosphere that attracts local wildlife and minimizes water usage. One of the challenges we undertook with the property was the steep topography. As a solution, we developed a series of terraced garden beds that allowed for efficient access to the outdoor entertainment space and an overall beautiful visual layering aesthetic. These terraces are made from long-lasting stone products, locally sourced and adorned with a variety of beautiful ornamental plants. Sustainable materials were important to this , and we sourced permeable pavers for the pathways for effective drainage with a clean look and feel. The natural stone fire pit that we designed and built serves as a perfect gathering space and entertaining area under the stars and by the warmth of the fire. In the end, the completed outdoor living space is both stunning and reflects the homeowner's ideas while earning our passion and time to detail and craftsmanship. The 'Muirlands Beauty ' has enhanced a beautiful outdoor living space when originally it was unrecognizable. The transformation has enhanced the homeowner's lifestyle, creating an escape that will be enjoyed for years to come.
