About This Project

Hidden Cove by Green Grass Landscape Contractors Located in the peaceful landscape of Kiawah Island, 'Hidden Cove' is a picturesque landscaping that Green Grass Landscape Contractors completed. It uses a large area to show our tradition of quality work, innovative thinking, and environmental stewardship. The vision for Hidden Cove was to develop a magical outdoor space that balanced the natural waterfront setting. To convey this, we planted numerous native species that thrive in the local environment and attract local wildlife to beautify the landscape and enrich the ecosystem. The plant palette consisted of non-stop blooming shrubs, lush ornamental grasses, and stately live oaks, selected for both aesthetic reasons as well as sustainability. One of the biggest challenges of the property was its unique topography, which featured high slopes, rocky outcrops, and significant runoff areas. We employed best-course practices on the newly graded land, using locally sourced stone retaining walls to allow for proper drainage and soil erosion. The prep work allowed us to develop tiered garden beds, which offer dynamic visual interest and planting space. A remarkable aspect of Hidden Cove is the gently winding pathways made from permeable pavers that blend perfectly into the landscape. The paths allow the visitor to wander through the gardens and arrive at a fire pit area with lounge seating to further enjoy the surrounding space; it is a beautiful place to enjoy the night sky around a fire. The final result is a beautiful blend of nature that gets interpreted through architecture and layout, creating a relaxing and retreating space for our client. She was impressed with how all elements of the landscape worked together to encapsulate the essence of living at the sea.
