Blount Designs Transitional Front Yard Makeover We just wrapped up a recent the Transitional Front Yard Makeover - updating boring landscape to a warm and natural looking yard that combines modern lines with natural beauty at Blount Designs. You would never know we are based out of Addison and service the surrounding communities of Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas and more if you saw this front yard makeover we were challenged with to make curb appeal and an inviting entrance. Assessing the landscape to understand the weaknesses upfront formed the initial steps of the one that featured dated plant materials and little continuity. We chose transitional elements that combine modern lines with softer, organic forms. We selected a gorgeous palette of drought-tolerant plants including ornamental grasses, native perennials, evergreen shrubs that provide seasonal beauty and sustainability throughout the entire year. A custom stone path of local flagstone leads from the sidewalk to the front door, enhancing the space. The path is lined with LED lighting that highlights the architectural features as well as makes the path safer to travel in the evenings. To achieve vertical interest, a contemporary wooden trellis is introduced and is dressed with climbing vines to form a natural vertical focal point. The most challenging of those issues was the hilly surface of the site, which necessitated leveling (and adding soil amendments) to prepare the planting up for the new plants. Our team expertly ensured drainage so that water does not collect which encourages the health of the new landscape. Moisture-retaining and weed suppressing high quality of natural mulch creates an excellent look. The finished product is a beautiful front yard that matches the style of the home and serves as an stylish outdoor space.
