Hilscher Design and Ecology is excited to present a landscape Traditional Design incorporating Natural Context and Beauty in the heart of the Twin Cities, with an exciting transformation. This is a beautiful demonstration of our sense of place, tying together an aesthetic that weaves principles of timeless design into the inherent beauty of its natural context. This serves Bayport, Birchwood, and Stillwater. The began with an extensive consultation with our clients. They expressed a desire for a landscape design that was timeless yet included a natural habitat. From this, we created a thoughtful master plan that features lush perennial gardens, attractive stone paths, and a calming water feature in the layout of design that celebrated the natural topography of the property. We used locally sourced materials like natural stone and native plantings to overcome the obstacles presented by the thoughtful site which had slight slopes and variations in sun. Our artisans laid graceful and creative patterns of flagstone that danced through the site without compromising the natural flow of the landscape. Drought-resistant plantings created an abundance of beauty across the seasons, and boulders hand-selected by staff served as conversation pieces, acting as the focal point of the landscape. The result is a stunning outdoor space that creates a beautiful mix of traditional and natural beauty. Clients were pleasantly surprised, not only at the aesthetics, but the nature of the design process of the landscape (it is now a powerful wildlife sanctuary, adding nature to the experience of family gatherings and increasing biodiversity on the site). Through quality craftsmanship and ecologically based practices, Hilscher Design and Ecology is committed to working in harmony with nature. The landscape combines beauty and ecological significance, proving that beauty can be sustained for years.
