Carpenter Nature Center - Hilscher Design and Ecology Hilscher Design and Ecology is excited to present the Carpenter Nature Center as our most recent landscape where function meets natural beauty. Situated in Minnesota's beautiful landscape, the embodies our spirit of improving the local ecological community while providing a calm place for visitors. Centering the Carpenter Nature Center is a thoughtfully designed native plant garden with many local plants selected to thrive in climate conditions. The garden has a sustainably landscaped area, incorporating organic mulch, permeable pavers and rain gardens to aid in stormwater management. The garden area is not only habitat for local species, but also promotes biodiversity, which is essential to a healthy ecological community. During the work, our team addressed the challenge of integrating the landscaping with current topography and waterways. Through innovative grading and erosion control methods, we were able to hold the natural contours of the land and properly scale the landscaping. The features winding pathways of natural stone. These pathways entice visitors to explore the area. Using local materials reinforces the theme of the while supporting the local economy and reducing the carbon footprint of the .
