Glass House Garden The Glass House Garden, designed by Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture, is a redesigned outdoor space situated in the Greater Los Angeles area. This revitalizes a modern home while simultaneously connecting nature with architecture. The garden showcases an attractive assortment of native plant species, including California poppies and succulents that were chosen for their ability to withstand heat and low watering needs to support sustainability. One of the defining components of this is the detailed hardscaping, including custom-cut bluestone pathways that meander through verdant vegetation while providing pathways to seating areas that serve as sites for meditative respite. A decorative water feature was added to create visual appeal and gentle sound while attracting wildlife. Throughout the process, Lisa and the design team were presented with the challenge of a steep, slopy site. They used terracing practices and retaining walls made from locally sourced granite to stabilize the area and create varying levels for height and depth. The planting beds utilize reclaimed wood, exemplifying an effort to use eco-friendly materials in the natural environment. The final product is a spectacular oasis that captures the contrasts of modern design and natural habitat to the delight of the client while providing a tranquil getaway from the city. The Glass House Garden frames the work of Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture by combining quality craftsmanship and creativity, thus further enriching the Greater Los Angeles area.
