Courtyard in Antigua. Located in the center of Antigua, this lovely courtyard by Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture very well integrates the beautiful traits of nature with contemporary design. Tell the story of serving the greater Los Angeles area, that Lisa Gimmy and her team showcased their talents in converting the small-scale outdoor space, that had not been purposefully utilized, into a serene and elegant oasis. The main element in the courtyard is a stunning water feature, designed from natural stone that complements the site and adds gently soothing sounds that add to the environment of the courtyard. Surrounding the water feature, a diverse selection of drought tolerant plant species were utilized, including natives that thrive in the local climate. The combination of colorful succulents, bougainvillea, and fragrant lavender, were arranged to develop a sensory experience, which changes with the season. A challenge consistently faced within the was an uneven area of the property, which required significant grading and drainage techniques to effectively manage water flow and erosion. Lisa Gimmy’s strong background in landscape architecture applied to develop seamless combinations of hardscape elements, which include custom raised planters and beautiful stone pathways which guide guests among the flourishing space. High-quality materials were sourced and/or designed for durability and aesthetics, including reclaimed hardwood for benches, that invite engagement and rest, and premium pavers that connect the walkways with surroundings. The sourced materials, polished finish, and parts, utilizing sustainable practices reflect Lisa Gimmy Landscape Architecture and Lisa Gimmy’s design philosophy. The end result is truly spectacular, the courtyard has become an extension of the clients' home, and hosts expertly entertaining friends and family, or just taking a break. The client was excited, thrilled actually, for the workmanship and detail that created an oasis at their home and offered moments of solitude.
