About This Project

Southbay Transitional by Park Slope Design Located in the heart of Santa Monica, Park Slope Design is proud to introduce the Southbay Transitional Landscaping , which expertly combines modern design and nature to create an uninspired outdoor area into a beautiful escape. This ignited our passion for quality and creative ideas and drew on local stone, repurposed wood, and drought tolerant plants to create a sustainable environment to thrive in Southern California. The design anchors itself with a wonderful patio area constructed of hand-cut flagstone stone that yields a rustic yet refined feeling. This space serves as a true outdoor entertainment location, complete with a custom fire pit and seats to allow family and friends to enjoy evenings around the fire. The presented unique challenges including a sloped landscape that required some creative grading to assure positive drainage and access. The skilled team at Park Slope Design created beautiful retaining walls from natural boulders that not only integrated into the landscape but allowed the surrounding environment to maintain its integrity. The attention to the native planting adds a beautiful visual, while promoting biodiversity as well as sustainability. The result - a practical and beautiful design where there were lush green space, colored planting, and pathways inviting people to enjoy all aspects of the outdoor environment. The clients were thrilled with the transformation, and specifically loved how the indoor and outdoor living spaces became integrated to create a personal getaway in the bustling city. Park Slope Design transforms outdoor area, amenities, and provides reminder of the power of landscaping in everyday living.
