Mediterranean Estate by Terra Ferma Landscapes Located within an elite neighborhood, the Mediterranean Estate from Terra Ferma Landscapes embodies the refinement and tradition of Mediterranean design and creates a delightful outdoor oasis out of a standard outdoor space. Serving clients within Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Francisco, San Mateo, Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, Larkspur, Kentfield, Belvedere, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Saratoga, the team was charged with developing a comprehensive landscape that showcased the estate architecture. Drought tolerant native plants evocative of the Mediterranean were thoughtfully chosen, such as lavender, olives, and bright bougainvillea, which all add shape and color to the landscape. The stone paver pathways likewise were locally sourced, of quality, and looked exceptional while meandering through the abundant greenery, encouraging exploration. The arbor was to be custom made to accommodate climbing vines, and to offer a shaded area for retreat. Finally, the water feature added elegance as well as a sense of tranquility by bringing soothing sounds into the environment. One of the challenges of the was the sloping hillside, which required a series of grading operations to provide proper drainage and erosion control.
