Scholar's Garden by Christian Duvernois Landscape/Studio Located in the center of Inwood, Manhattan, Christian Duvernois Landscape/Studio Scholar's Garden Such a beautiful outdoor sanctuary, combining function with the beauty of nature, where the owners can study or relax. The garden incorporates thoughtfully chosen native plants like flowering perennials and evergreen shrubs, contributing to both the visual appeal and the biodiversity of the area. The bluestone path meanders between plants, with small pockets of seating where one can sit and contemplate or study the blue of the bluestone above the marks in the earth, in the light green of the fussy calamint. Edging in reclaimed brick pays homage to the neighborhood's history, an old-world charm that resonates today. Site topography was one of the main challenges during this . The team creatively crafted a set of terraced levels, implementing the use of sustainable materials while also preventing erosion to create a durable, stable site. An elegant approach to stormwater management was also implemented with the introduction of a rain garden, which creates a visually appealing, sustainable pop of color to the landscape. The end product is a balanced sanctuary, which the client loves, as she can reflect and study away from the everyday bustle of the city. Christian Duvernois Landscape/Studio was inspired with a passion for well-crafted, innovative design that draws upon a diversity of architectural vernaculars to nurture the spirit of a place for the New York metropolitan areaand now proud of the work that has been completed at The Scholar's Garden in the New York metropolitan area including Brooklyn, Long Island, The Hamptons, Bridgehampton. Yes, in doing so this beautifies the property and serves the community, showing that landscaping can replace simple exterior spaces with places where nature and intellect can coincide.
