Milford, CT - Milford Center District Designed by Gardens by Design of Connecticut, LLC, this landscaping reflects a long overdue landscape renovation in the heart of Milford Center. Gardens by Design of Connecticut, LLC engaged a historic house that had certainly seen better days, but the property provided a sloping landscape rife with opportunity to offer a landscape that fit with a cottage/landscape that fit within the context of the surrounding area, was inviting for all who came to enjoy, and functioned within the budget provided for the redesign. As the development progressed, the design included the installation of native plants such as perennials and ornamental grasses that have proven adaptation to the site's conditions, while minimizing maintenance. Naturally sourced dimensional thresholds, and natural stone pavements were detailed and installed to add quality and durability to hardscapes throughout the site as they relate, but create interest in hardscape elements. The stone terrace accommodating social gathers was beautiful and processed with aspects of seating for comfort and we're inviting amenities for the community. An ongoing challenge throughout the was the site's sloping grades and terrain. As this property was not low lying, we provided the owner creative drainage options that addressed the terrain but concurrently created interest and depth to the site. Our design's solution was a tiered garden and allowing for water to be drained through thoughtful drainage option for soil erosion and provided proactive ground control to avoid pooling. In the end, a stunning outdoor oasis was the outcome where lush foliage and blooms correlated with the designed hardscapes, offering beautiful outdoor space to enjoy and spend time with community and family. The owners were ecstatic in the outcome an we over-delivered to improve the appeal of their home and property value.
