Profile: Rob Roy - A Landscaped Transformation by D-CRAIN Design and Construction In the quiet and beautiful neighborhood of Rob Roy, D-CRAIN Design and Construction has created a representation of modern landscape and design. Our team was tasked with transforming an expansive estate into a stunning outdoor environment that reflected the natural beauty of the areas surrounding Austin, Barton Creek, and West Lake Hills. Our began with a site analysis, where we broke down the site to understand the existing conditions and possible site constraints. Our talented designers put together a site plan that included supplemented native plant species, hardscape materials, and sustainable materials that meshed well with the existing landscape. We used high-quality stone pavers to create inviting pathways and patios and natural boulders that fit in nicely with the ruggedness of the Texas Hill Country. The most significant challenge we faced on site was the slope of the yard, which left us needing to address proper water management to deter erosion and keep the soil nice and healthy. Our team also installed a series of terraced garden beds that provided enough room for plant life to thrive while we controlled their water management. We also chose drought-tolerant plants and native species that added to the ecological balance of the landscape while decreasing the maintenance costs for the homeowner. The primary focus of the backyard is a beautiful water feature designed to add tranquility and beauty. The soft sound of water washing down the feature creates the perfect atmosphere for relaxation or entertaining, and the addition of plant material around the water feature creates richness and interest all year long, changing with the seasons. The end product of the Rob Roy is a beautiful marriage between function and aesthetics that surprised our client in fulfilling their dreams of an outdoor retreat. In addition to enhancing the property’s curb appeal, we have contributed to the sustainability of the environment.
