About This Project

Central Austin Hillside D-CRAIN Design and Construction is proud to present the 'Central Austin Hillside' , a breathtaking transformation of a challenging hillside site into a beautiful outdoor entertainment space. Set in central Austin, this is a testament to great build quality and thoughtful landscaping solutions. The landscaping consists of a native Texas plant palette that it both environmentally friendly and also thrives in the local ecology. Drought-tolerant plants were installed, including vibrant yuccas and colorful lantanas that offer a beautiful display every season with little maintenance. Locally sourced stone was used for terracing that takes advantage of the natural beauty of the hillside and provides functional erosion control with a pleasing visual element. Steep hillsides can present a challenge; steep slopes may create erosion issues for the landscape. The site was appropriately graded by our staff to achieve a series of retaining walls and drainage devices. Our work provided stability of the land while preserving the natural contours of the landscape and maximizing usable outdoor space. In the end, the result is a stunning garden with multiple levels of space to encourage relaxation and entertainment. A winding path in stone takes visitors through the lush plantings to seating space with a custom fire pit for evening entertainment. The ambient lighting we installed after dark emphasizes all of the qualities of the landscape we designed; showcasing how great the landscape looks late into the evening. Our client was very happy with how we captured their vision while improving the functionality and visual quality of the site.
