Kent Woodlands Redux by Pedersen Associates The 'Kent Woodlands Redux' is a residential landscape in the heart of Marin County by Pedersen Associates. This demonstrates a way to harmonize nature and design in a worthy residential landscape that marries our commitment to and quality at every level. Serving the residents of Alto, Belvedere, Mill Valley, and beyond, this is a clear representation of the dedication of Pedersen Associates to all things quality; from gorgeous native gardens to local sourced stone pathways; every inch is thoughtfully considered. The began with a clear challenge to renovate an overgrown, blank canvass yard that would require thought-provoking solutions to assimilate into the existing topography. On initial consult, we walked the site and performed a site analysis, identifying soil health, soil drainage patterns, and establishing the logistic approach for site treatments. The heart of the landscape is a beautiful native plant garden with drought-tolerant plants characterized to perform in the climatic zone of that region of California. The native planting promotes habitat use, as well as diminishes the carbon and water footprint of garden maintenance. The pathways were made of local stone and are designed and shaped not just to enhance aesthetics, but sustainability in the landscape. The pathways provide a place to explore curves and meanders interspersed with seating for relaxing outdoor living. The scope included a water-saving irrigation system that would be able to maintain a green landscape appropriate for a semi-arid climate. We partnered with the client to ensure all of the objectives as set forth initially by the client were met and resulted in a lovely outdoor living space that was complementary to the natural surroundings in which the property was situated. The final outcome is a beautiful landscape that touches on all of the uses and requirements of the homeowners while beautifying the Kent Woodlands community as a whole.
