Landie Coastal Modern at SP Gardens - Susanna Pagan Landscape Design Located in the stunning coastal area of San Diego, the 'Landie Coastal Modern' illustrates the combination of modern design and natural beauty from SP Gardens - Susanna Pagan Landscape Design. We service the beautiful communities of Cardiff By The Sea, Carlsbad, Encinitas, and all points in-between, and we strive for quality and originality in all our s. The main objective for Landie Coastal Modern was to create an outdoor space that could serve as an oasis, conducive to coastal life but with an updated design feel. This features a gorgeous selection of California native plants which were chosen for their ability to thrive in the coastal environment with minimal maintenance, creating a sustainable garden and contributing to the local ecology. The plant palette incorporates colorful succulents, scented lavender and ornamental grasses for movement in the ocean breezes throughout the seasons and to develop beautiful textures of colors. Landie Coastal Modern presented a primary challenge of the steep topography and the need for terracing. Our design team used the natural stones available on-site to create native stone retaining wall and terraced garden beds to maximize usable outdoor space and provide visual interest as your eyes travel across the property. All hardscape materials were sourced locally to ensure that the components would work with the existing ecological site, keeping in line with the coastal modern style. To incorporate a patio space we selected durable, slip-resistant pavers which reflected the light colors of the sandy beach to create a place to gather and relax. The fire pit was designed for evening use, aligned with comfortable seating to allow family and friends to enjoy outdoor evenings surrounded by nature. Additionally, we included low-voltage lighting throughout the landscape to highlight certain features, added safety for night time use once the sun sets and it's time to enjoy the beauty of a dark sky. The lighting added to the beauty of the design as an illuminated completes the space allowing it to become a magical retreat at night. At the final reveal of the 'Landie Coastal Modern' , we were thrilled to see our clients ecstatic to have an outdoor oasis that represented their lifestyle incorporating a love of the coastal environment.
