Deer Resistant Drama by Le Jardinet Located in the scenic neighborhoods of the Greater Seattle area, Le Jardinet's 'Deer Resistant Drama' took a suburban yard and converted it into a colorful, magical retreat. As we work with clients all over Ames Lake, Bellevue and beyond, Le Jardinet is uniquely qualified to create landscaping that harmonizes with nature while cleverly solving any problem you might have....like deer! This included a beautiful deer-resistant selection of plantsincluding flashy lavender, scented salvia, and beautiful, hearty ornamental grasses. We went through this process together with our clientnot simply choosing plants that were aesthetically pleasing, but that were also resistant to wildlife. We layered plantings for depth and interest throughout the design, including striking perennials and evergreen shrubs for year-round interest. A challenge on this property was the slope. To work with effective drainage and reduce erosion, the team multi-tiered the beds; leveraging the natural stone walls to act as retaining walls. This looks beautiful too, planted as they are to sit loftily in the ground. This was a significant value-add to the overall landscape as the landscape expert went on to explain the installation did not affect the natural flows of rainwater runoff. A locally sourced flagstone was selected for the pathwaysdurable, and a rustic feel to match the surrounding scenery. The pathways lead visitors on a route through the beauty of the garden and its accompanying curation of plant life. The outcome was a stunning exterior space that made our clients instinctively scream "WOW" when they reached end of their property. While we designed this beautiful space for relaxation and entertaining, we also knew the deer would irrigate the garden to the betterment of the experience for the owners, from the sparse foraging available, compared to once done in great numbers. Given Le Jardinet's attention to detail and quality work, we left our clients thrilled to have this beautiful retreat at home that presents all nature has to offer. And not just for aesthetics, they fulfilled sustainable needs for the particular lot, enhancing the overall ecology of what they would not have otherwise experienced if Las Jardinet had not performed restoration.
