About This Project

Contemporary Modern by Garden Nest Residential Landscape Located in the heart of the East Bay is Garden Nest Residential Landscape's 'Contemporary Modern' , a seamless blending of art and functionality that turns an unglamorous backyard into a breathtaking outdoor retreat. Addressing a broad range of clientele from Alameda to Alamo to Albany and beyond, we were challenged to design a space that brought modernity into the context of nature. The design process started with an in-depth consultation with the client to further the vision. The landscaping consists of clean, sharp lines shaping the layout in a refined neutral tone and green colored palette. We used the best materials available such as stone pavers and hardwood decking sourced from a local supplier that practices sustainability, which provides you with durability as well as making sure to be eco-friendly. A multi-tier garden where drought resistant plants, native to Northern California were planted was one of features. Not only does this increase aesthetic value but also increases local biodiversity. Key Element #2 Water FeatureA dramatic water feature was incorporated to create a peaceful atmosphere and an eye-catching focal point. I was faced with the uneven terrain and the idea that water may drain from the back down into the property. We approached these challenges head on, installing a large underground drainage system and designing an overall graded site with balanced cut and fill through the use of retaining walls. End result is a true melding of inside and out, with specialized seating, lighting for evening events to really be under the stars. The happy client was delighted with the design and how the ‘Contemporary Modern’ improved the value and appearance of their home.
