Residential Edible Garden by ServeScape At ServeScape, we take pride in building beautiful outdoor spaces to nurture an ecosystem for people and nature that is aesthetically pleasing and sustainable. The most recent we completed, the 'Residential Edible Garden' is located in North Atlanta and exemplifies our quality and innovation in landscaping. The edible garden is over 1,200 square feet and features a number of raised beds created from locally-sourced cedar. While designing the edible garden, we took time plan the arrangement of organic vegetables, herbs, and fruits, including sample crops such as heirloom tomatoes, basil, and strawberries. We planned the crops to allow access to sunlight efficiently. In addition to aesthetic plans, we selected quality organic compost and soil amendment to ensure the area would have rich, fertile soil for significant production. One of the challenges we faced in this was the existing heavy clay soil that did not drain properly. To remedy this challenge, we installed a layered drainage system beneath the beds to ensure proper water filtration without root rot. We also provided a rainwater collection system that uses water from nature, to provide ecofriendly irrigation for the edible garden. The finished result is beautiful beyond words. The edible garden functions as a placeto grow food for the homeowners while also providing a wonderful opportunity to host gatherings or just simply experience being with family and friends. The colors have a beautiful richness to them, and the fragrant herbs give a sensory experience that captivates both the family and their guests. The sitting area made of recycled bricks provided a touch of charm, allowing them to enjoy being in the space while eating the bounty from their edible garden. The 'Residential Edible Garden' is a symbol of ServeScape's quality craftsmanship, quality solutions, and sustainable practices.
