- Allergic to Bees 'Allergic to Bees' is an exceptional landscaping presented by Winston Fayer Landscape Design, to create an amazing outdoor space that responded to the client's unique needs. Located in beautiful Bronxville, the required designing bee-free zones while still making the landscape vibrant with blooms and attractive plants. Our design team deliberated and handpicked flowering plants that do not appeal to bees, while still including lush greenery and helping the design to maintain great colors through ornamental grasses and shrubs that are native to the area, and would still thrive. The utilized eco-friendly materials such as permeable pavers and natural stone pathways that would lend to the beauty of the environment while taking green initiatives for drainage and sustainability. Developing a beautiful landscape that would mitigate bees was the biggest hurdle we had to overcome. This required some research, but with careful planning and great communication with the client, we created an oasis that would provide the client a sense of peace in enjoying the outdoor garden space without worries of allergens. In arriving at solutions to overcome the bee hurdle, our team created strategic plantings but also provided shaded seating areas where the family would be able to enjoy the outdoors and relax. The end result is a perfectly cohesive landscape illustrating function with beauty. The design includes a seating area surrounded by lush, beautiful non-flowering plants and was perfect to relax with family. Clients can now experience the outdoor garden space year-round and are no longer concerned interacting with bees, all while being enveloped in rich textures and colors.
