Shade Garden by Magee Design Tucked deep into Virginia's beautiful countryside, Magee Design presented the "Shade Garden" , an exceptional renovation to enhance the beauty and functionality of outdoor spaces. Serving communities including Aldie, Arcola, Ashburn, and beyond, the Shade Garden was born from a desire for a restful retreat in the shade of the mature trees in the yard. The Shade Garden consists of mostly native plants, shade-loving selections, and includes many astilbes, hostas, and ferns, resulting in a lovely mix of contrasting textures and colors that thrive in low light. Organic mulch pathways weave their way through the garden, allowing visitors to wander thoughtfully through the lovely surroundings and absorbing the peaceful atmosphere. Natural stone pavers sourced locally...well, they not only add rustic whimsy, but provide strength and durability in maintenance. Throughout the , Magee Design was faced with challenges such as topography and existing roots in trees, and some key areas required creative solutions. Our team built several raised beds to address the varying soil conditions, and provided an irrigation system to lessen the possibility of dry patches. Ultimately, the finished product speaks to the artfulness of the design in finally maintaining harmony with nature. The client was thrilled for their new outdoor space where they can rest and enjoy the scenery. Shade gardens enhance the property while pulling dwellers closer to nature, which makes it a favorable addition to the great communities in which we called home, Broadlands, Bluemont, Purcellville, and so on. Any we undertake is a story waiting for the narrator to tell...our Shade Garden poses to be no different.
