About This Project

Client Native Landscape by Magee Design The 'Native Landscape' provided by Magee Design was a landscaping we took on in the beautiful area around Aldie, Arcola, Ashburn, and beyond. We wanted to achieve a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor space that could coexist with the surroundings in a sustainable manner. The included a wide variety of species of native plants that would not only look amazing, but also withstand the local conditions, such as the Eastern Redbud, Black-eyed Susan, and Butterfly Milkweed. We also used eco-friendly materials and buildings, such as permeable pavers for walkways and natural stone for the retaining walls to add sustainable durability. The site posed some challenges, particularly with the natural slope, which we needed to grade to manage the runoff. We used terraced beds and rain gardens as our solution that performed well to create better drainage, along with multiple layers of visual interest through the plantings and overall layout. The end result was a functional, and beautiful landscape. The client loved the variety of colors and textures the native plants gave to the look while remaining low-maintenance. The improved the curb appeal of the property and served as a great example of sustainable landscaping for the areas of Broadlands, Dulles, and even further.
