Woodland Garden by Magee Design Located in Northern Virginia, Magee Design is excited to showcase the Woodland Garden , a beautiful metamorphosis inspired by nature to create a peaceful retreat for our clients in Aldie, Ashburn, and beyond. This effort was initially initiated with the intent to beautifully incorporate the surrounding area's lush plant material into the hardscapes that created the space. The Woodland Garden features a thoughtful combination of native trees, shrubs, and perennials that are specific to the Northern Virginia climate. We used stately oaks and maples for the larger canopy areas of the garden to be able to provide shade, with pops of color and texture by azaleas and ferns to encapsulate the seasons. The thoughtful site-planning of the plant material produces extraordinary life within the garden and supports biodiversity. One of the most pressing challenges was the slope of the site, requiring additional planning and a unique approach. Our talented team of designers used soft landscaping and managed the slope through terracing to create incredible levels of visual interest in the garden, utilizing natural drainage and preventing soil erosion. We also used natural stone in several areas. The stone pathways provide thoughtful navigation through the site while complementing the surrounding elements. In addition to the Woodland Garden's beauty, we created custom seating with sustainably harvested timber, allowing the client to enjoy their new space. The fire pit, surrounded by native wildflowers, became the special feature for gatherings and spending time outdoors all year. The result is a stunning Woodland Garden that exceeded our client's vision and purpose. The final design encompassed their desire for a mixture of natural beauty and creative design. The Woodland Garden is a proud example of the quality workmanship we at Magee Design provide for our clients. The Woodland Garden was much more than a landscaping . It has provided our clients with an opportunity to enhance their lifestyle and nature in their own backyard.
