About This Project

Winter Interest by Magee Design At Magee Design, we fully embrace the beauty of all seasons, as depicted in the 'Winter Interest' . This was located in the scenic countryside of Aldie and sought to change an ordinary garden into a dynamic winter wonderland that appealed to the senses in the colder months. We selected an array of evergreen shrubs, such as boxwoods and junipers, with ornament grasses that would gracefully move while the rest of winter remained still. In an effort to create visual interest, we selected multilayered hardscape elements like a custom stone pathway made from locally-quarried bluestone to provide access while also being a beautiful visual anchor against snow-dusted leaves during the winter. While maintaining visual interest year-round in a low-maintenance landscape was key, we also added perennials that bloom in winter including hellebores and winter jasmine, which provided delicate blooms and exceptional color. In addition, we also incorporated seasonal planters, with a blend of fresh evergreens and seasonal winter florals, which can be moved toward spring arrangements. The end result included visual interest through texture, color, and form that delighted you, your neighbors, and your guests. The garden now represents a use for beauty by creating a winter landscape that showcases the quality of the craftsmanship and design for which Magee Design is known. The improved the home's curb appeal while also creating a retreat for you to enjoy over the winter months, proving that the right design can help winter be as beautiful as any other season.
