About This Project

This d Plant Choices for Your New Landscape - Layering is designed by Michael Glassman & Associates located in the Greater Sacramento area serving areas including Antelope, Arden-Arcade and out to El Dorado County. We started with your standard yard and created a plant haven by layering in plants. The layering approach engaged the idea of verticality, using a broad palette of plants to create dimension and depth in the space. We used native and drought-tolerant plants such as California Lilac, Red Yucca and some ornamental grasses to achieve a sustainable and lively landscape. Planting in layers allowed for tall, medium and low plants to blend together seamlessly, creating a visual tapestry that changed throughout the seasons. During the , we navigated challenging problems including uneven grounds and poor soil. As a team we worked to collectively think outside the box by implementing raised planting beds and amendments to improve plant health and longevity. To add aesthetic value and practicality we introduced decorative boulders and natural stone pathways. The end result was beautiful and a dynamic garden. It created a special retreat that evoked joy at home and spaces outdoors to have a drink and mingle. The scent, color, and texture of the garden truly enhanced its inviting nature.
