About This Project

Meditative Healing Garden - Laurel Canyon Set within the tranquil landscape of Laurel Canyon, the 'Meditative Healing Garden' represents the vision, design, and implementation of Ketti Kupper Conscious Life Design. Our focus was to create a landscape that facilitated relaxation and reflection, merging the peacefulness of the site with modern sensibilities of design. The process began with a thorough analysis of the site and its topographic characteristics and microclimate. The garden has an abundance of native Californian plants that creates a rich sustainable ecosystem with no or very low water dependence. The plants selected for their robustness and healing qualities are fragrant lavender, beautiful succulents, and wildflowers. We designed the meditative experience by featuring winding paths made from local decomposed granite so visitors may meander and contemplate peacefully. The installation of a water feature in the central garden, a beautiful stone fountain, allows the sound of water to flow serenely through the garden. Boulders are placed throughout the meditative garden for a naturally occurring seat so guests have the opportunity to pause and reflect. The site's severe gradients were a key consideration, as they required a solution. We designed terraced planting beds which made accessibility convenient while providing depth and visual articulation with the landscape. A natural stone retaining wall was designed to reinforce the terraced planting beds and naturally blend with the environment. The finished product is a beautiful oasis that our client loves, and embodies the notion of conscious living.
