The Family Compound Molly Wood Garden Design is thrilled to introduce the 'Family Compound,' a light-hearted extension of the home that celebrates the intersection of sophisticated design and everyday living. Located in Newport Beach, CA, this captures a distinctive blend of nature and family living, infusing the areas with leisure and sport. This design features an expansive lawn with high-quality manufactured turf, providing a lush green environment in all seasons with minimal water usage. In the center of the lawn is an inviting, custom-designed fire pit, encircled by natural stone seating and barbeque grill, a social spot for families to gather for food and beverages under dark skies. The fire pit is accented with colorful native California plants selected for durability and low maintenance to keep the landscape colorfully stunning for each season. A commercial-grade kitchen with an outdoor grill, built-in refrigerator, and extensive counter space positioned beneath a wood pergola is easily accessible from the house. The kitchen space feels inviting while accommodating families entertaining friends and other guests. The reclaimed wood and natural stone create continuance of style within the coastal environment. Probably the greatest challenge of the Family Compound was accommodating the property’s slope. We designed tiered planting beds to manage drainage as well as introduce visual interest in planting beds filled with sun-loving, coastal-tolerant perennial plants and ornamental grass for color and texture. The end result is a landscaping beautifully executed and to our client's satisfaction. The Family Compound has realized a family area for lots of activities: barbeque, mornings soaking up the beauty of nature, and fun entertaining. Our attention to detail and quality have assured that Molly Wood Garden Design took this outdoor space and made it a celebration of coastal living, for both clients and guests.
