Masculine Modern by Molly Wood Garden Design Located in the lively coastal communities of Corona Del Mar and Newport Beach, the "Masculine Modern" by Molly Wood Garden Design takes outdoor living to a higher level of sophistication with its striking modern appeal. The plan was meant to complement our client's polished lifestyle while seamlessly incorporating rugged, natural components that conveyed strength and durability. The landscape is planted with a thoughtful blend of native plants, low-maintenance succulents and ornamental grasses, which thrive in the coastal climate and also contrast the hardscape's sleek planes. An array of large format charcoal concrete pavers paved the way to the stunning outdoor room with a sleek firepit and built-in seating area that's perfect for entertaining. The property had a steep slope which was a significant challenge. Innovated terracing was necessary to achieve accessibility and appeal. With this in mind, our team designed retaining walls out of natural stone that were visually friendly to the landscape yet structurally reliable. Ultimately, this created a multi-level garden where interest and connection to the overall garden was enhanced. The masculinity of the landscape was further distinguished with modern metal accents, including custom railings and decorative planters, that flowed cleanly with the rest of the design. The outdoor uplights furthermore lit the wise elements within the landscape to create a desirable evening sanctuary. In the end the result is nothing short of a sophisticated, and approachable outdoor space that both delights the client and proves the quality of work being produced by Molly Wood Garden Design. The met not only the client's vision, but the surrounding area's beauty was raised and "Masculine Modern' proved itself to be a contemporary piece of landscape architecture in Laguna Beach or beyond.
