Laurelhurst Courtyard Completed by Sage and Stone LLC Located in the beautiful and historic Laurelhurst neighborhood, the Laurelhurst Courtyard completed by Sage and Stone LLC was born from the realization of a client request for the renovation and rejuvenation of an outdoor space that was in disrepair. The embodies the unique tastes of our clientele that we work with in places such as Ballard, Beacon Hill, Bellevue, and Mercer Island, all unique and beautiful places to live. The courtyard features a flagstone patio, constructed with locally sourced bluestone, which is extremely durable and beautiful. An endless assortment of native plants and ornamental grasses surround the patio, all of which thrive in the beautiful Pacific Northwest climate. We designed the space in a way to ensure it looks great and is easy to maintain all year round. Additionally, our plant selection is intentionally aesthetic and ecological. The plants we selected not only look beautiful but are beneficial to local species. One of the biggest challenges we faced throughout the construction phase was the level of slope at the site. Our team used innovative grading and built natural stone retaining walls to build a level area while showing depth of the design. This innovative approach allowed us to optimize the usable area and keep with the natural topography of the site. The contains a water feature: a custom-designed pond that is the centerpiece feature of the courtyard space. The water fountain provides the sounds of flowing water, which enhances the sensory quality of space and promotes visual relaxation. A softscape of river rock and aquatic plants surrounds the pond to join it together with the rest of the landscape. Overall, the Laurelhurst Courtyard resulted in a beautiful outdoor space that provides its occupants a place to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the outdoors. The outdoor space is a perfect blend of hardscape materials and softscapes. Judging by the outcome, this exemplifies the values of quality craftsmanship and innovative design that Sage and Stone LLC stands for. The outdoor area will not only enhance the aesthetics of the home it belongs to, but provide another level of functional space. We hope the client is able to enjoy the space for many years to come.
