Mount Charleston Residence We are pleased to present the Mount Charleston Residence, a recent by Attanasio Landscape Architecture that showcases our approach to quality, creativity and craftsmanship. Located in the stunning surroundings of Mount Charleston, the home is a seamless fusion of nature and natural design. Sustainable but beautiful the included a selection of native plants. We went with drought-tolerant plants like desert marigolds and Joshua trees combined with colorful succulents that do well within the climate. An elaborate stone path made of native flagstone leads a natural process through the property, directing guests around the green gardens. The big challenge for us was the slope, we needed the grain at the back to be flat, and we needed some terraces here and there to implement these outdoor areas. We carefully designed several tiers of gardens and patios, using natural boulders for the retaining walls to style with the natural. This not only optimised the livable space, but also allowed for great viewing points of the spectacular mountain range views around them. Alongside the nature gardens, we added a calming water feature to provide a central spot for relaxing with a pond and waterfall, attracting local wildlife. These architectural features were provided with subtle but strategic lighting elements to draw their attention at night, all of which work together to create a magical atmosphere to draw the outdoor space into the evening hours. The result is a stunning landscape that embodies the intent of the client and honors the natural topography of the Mount Charleston region. It has turned into a space where the homeowners and their family can seek solace away from the grind of urban life that is prevalent within close proximity of their home, and at the same time, the realization of the idea of such an inviting gathering space that you never would mind to pick up the phone and ask more friends over.
