Garden Walls by Kate Martin Design Kate Martin Design proudly completed the "Garden Walls" in the vibrant Metro Seattle Area, which transformed a lackluster backyard into a striking outdoor escape. This reflects an exquisite blend of form and function featuring beautiful, well-designed retaining walls that not only divide space but also enhance the site with natural beauty. This design utilizes top-quality materials such as locally sourced stone and a durable, weather-resistant concrete to ensure durability and minimal maintenance. Compounding the intricacy of design was the challenge of working with a yard on a slope, which required out-of-the-box engineering to create terraces that were aesthetically interesting and functionally usable. It took a combination of prepared schedules delivered through good craftsmanship and thoughtful planning to tackle the water flow that was at times a nuisance to create as seamless water management options found its way and flowed with the natural landscape in both real and imagined ways. In the end, we achieved a beautiful series of stunning garden walls with thoughtfully chosen plantings that provided abundant greenery for the backyard, inviting the outdoor user to kick back and enjoy. Each wall served as a canvas for purposeful plant choices that gave a burst of color and visual interest throughout the outdoor space, and encouraged the eye to discover the inseparable in the wall construction. Our client at the end of the said they were amazed and happy with the outcome and the merging of artistry and form, that allowed them to realize their yard can be their retreat.
