Whimsical Garden, Chevy Chase The Whimsical Garden features in Chevy Chase, Maryland by Bethesda Garden Design LLC, is truly a beautiful display of landscaping prowess, knowing how to balance art and practicality. Located between the lovely homes of Chevy Chase, this garden turns an otherwise simple yard into a magical outdoor oasis. We took an approach that mixed native plants and annuals, to keep everything looking dynamic and colourful with the seasons, as well as boost the health of the local ecosystem. The garden is playful, with pathways made of native stone; the local flagstone was used to make meandering stone pathways traversing colorful floral beds and ornamental grasses. Built from sustainably harvested cedar, with 7 walls to pitch against the storms, it provides more than just a wind block, it's the centerpiece of a beautiful place to sit and relax in the shade. Something interesting that came up was the land was quite uneven and the soil was not very good. To tackle these challenges, our experts utilized raised bed and soil amendment techniques that improved drainage and plant health. We also planned how to best irrigate the plants, so that there is enough water for them all to flourish. The end result is a colorful, warm space that ties in with its natural surroundings and creates a play area for the family amongst nature. The happy clients now have a garden that fits their quirky personality and expands their outside entertaining space.
