Set in the picturesque Montecito, CA, this incorporates both nature and art to create a beautiful outdoor living space. The use of native, drought-resistant plants serves to highlight the property’s natural beauty while upholding valuable sustainable practices. Guest are invited to take a meandering path of local stone that runs through lush gardens full of colorful succulent plants and aromatic Mediterranean herbs. Custom seating areas made of reclaimed wood are set within the garden reminding guests to sit back, relax, & enjoy the outdoor environment. One of the ’s design challenges was the steep topography of the site. The Aldrich Company addressed these challenges in the terraced garden approach, enhancing the site accessibility and adding depth, function, and dimension to the landscape. Erosion control measures were implemented to ensure hillside integrity was maintained. This not only allowed the client to enjoy their outdoor space but also provided safety and sustainability measures. Sustainable materials including permeable paver stones and native boulders were carefully selected for both aesthetic and function, providing a desirable luxurious feel while remaining sustainable. An efficient simple irrigation system was easily integrated into the design to acknowledge water conservation while keeping the landscape lush and alive. The end result, a stunning design, achieved the client’s initial expectations, creating a functional and beautiful outdoor living space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends.
