Palo Alto Oasis by Pedersen Associates Located in the heart of Palo Alto, the 'Palo Alto Oasis' underscores Pedersen Associates' mission to create gorgeous outdoor spaces that provide beauty and function. This expansive landscape renovation required thoughtful design and installation of many site elements: a tranquil water feature, native drought-resistant plants, and beautiful stone pathways to navigate visitors through the various landscapes. The initiated with a detailed site assessment to learn existing conditions and conditions, such as uneven level changes and limited sunlight in certain areas. After assessing the site, the design incorporated beautifully designed terraces that solved the issues identified in the site assessment. The terraces were not only aesthetically pleasing; they provided the ideal landscape for the selected plans to thrive. The breakdown of local materials, including hand-selected stones and reclaimed wood, enhanced the familiarity of the materials while bringing out the natural beauty of the landscape and Palo Alto area. The oasis features a tranquil koi pond that was designed and constructed to promote a relaxing experience for users with its pondless waterfall providing a pleasant sound experience as well as attracting wildlife and relaxing people alike. Around the pond, we planted a variety of native plantschosen for their drought-resistance and low-maintenanceto promote sustainability and color throughout the year. The detail-oriented lighting design had lights placed enough to highlight pathways and important landscape features to experience the oasis at night independently or with others. The result is a stunning retreat that surpassed the client's expectations, changing a client's backyard into a destination. The Palo Alto Oasis brought together the quality of Pedersen Associates work and design development in concert to create and instill a beautiful and tranquil oasis in the landscape for many years to come.
