Curved Hardscape | Landscape Design Associates Located in a secluded area of Great Falls, this 'Curved Hardscape' by Landscape Design Associates, is the quintessential masterpiece. This pioneering landscape integrates functional outdoor living features with the natural topography of the landscape. The curved stone path at the heart of the serves both as a navigational guide through a space filled with native plant species and as a decor piece in and of itself. To ensure high quality and lasting-drainage, the team incorporated a mixture of flagstone and permeable pavers. We selected each of the stones individually based on texture and variation and laid them in an organic manner so that they flow with the surroundings. A major consideration was melding the harsh lines of the hardscape with the existing terrain of slopes and established trees. Working together, our talented designers and engineers developed a layout that not only improved access but also maintained the quality of the existing natural site. Layering of plants needed to take place and specific forms had to be installed in a step-by-step process as well, especially as the curves and contours in the hardscape needed to match the curves and contours in the plant materials. The end result is a beautiful, functional outdoor space zen retreat. A gorgeous fire pit with reclaimed wood seating area gives a cozy spot for gatherings, and read circle lighting creates the path-way and bordering location with brightness, atmosphere during twilight hours. The result was loved by our client, who said they love the new hardscape and how it blends well with their home and how it has improved their outdoor living.
