Considerable Landscape Architect/ Consultant with a career span including design and install supervision; high-end, traditional and modern to land reclamation. Best known for a distinctive, site-specific approach to all types of landscape design using locally-available materials and native vegetation. Even though my landscape design has been so strongly rooted in the traditional architecture that we find on the North Shore of Chicago, which any good landscape architecture is meant to complement-I have ultimately always had a deeper passion for the natural world. Of course the inclusion of plants that bring wildlife such as song birds, butterflies, and pollinating insects, etc., back to our landscapes has always been part of the “program” and movement toward achieving a healthy environment and richer outdoor experience. Realizing that we are currently in the most severe decline of native wildlife populations in the history of humanity, largely due to habitat loss (and the fact that I could be a voice for positive change) is what caused me to leave the family business and create my new company: LandServe, LLC...“Landscapes for life!”. With the work of ‘LandServe I am able to push a “hybrid”, a unique design approach for “true”, long-time sustainability with “landscapes with the “widely accepted visual appeal” and “using, if at all possible, indigenous plants and other regionally available materials”. When your landscapes meet those functional and aesthetic needs for the client, I can justify incorporating native plant material into literally any landscape or land development, at any scale or style!October 2023 And this way, I meet the needs of my client and truth!! I contributed my unique abilities into the mix in building the nations largest privately held residential landscape company. The lasting legacies that I know will endure are not all the myriad of landscape designs I’ve created over the years but rather the improved, ecological landscapes I am delivering now as I guide my new company — LandServe, LLC — into the future.
