### Zaremba & Company Turtle Lake Turtle Lake from Zaremba & Company reimagined outdoor living for a beautiful lakeside estate in Oakland County. Set in the placid milieu of West Bloomfield, and in-between nature and architecture, this remarkable landscaping was a combination of natural elements and contemporary architectural lines. We started with an in-depth site analysis recognizing the context of developed topography and hydrology of the area. It was this style of thinking that helped us develop a sustainable landscape that complemented the property while aggressively partnering with the environment. The includes a stunning natural stone retaining wall which follows the contour of the shoreline and offers both stability and beauty. Built using indigenous boulders, the wall blends in with the landscape, yet controls erosion. We also added ornamental grasses, perennials, and flowering shrubs that are native to this region, and known for their hardiness and low maintenance requirements to fill the gaps on the property. Not only does this selection provide biodiversity, much of it also provides interest and color throughout the seasons. Created an elegant flagstone patio and incorporated an inviting outdoor space to relax and entertain, with a custom fire pit for evening gatherings to unwind under the stars. Perhaps the most difficult aspect was the management of the steep slopes up to the lake, where strategic grading and drainage was required. The design by our Client took advantage of the natural contours of the land directing surface runoff, so our team implemented a holistic drainage plan including French drains and rain gardens to direct runoff yet preserve the natural beauty of the land. This process resulted in Turtle Lake that our client was absolutely stoked on. Today, they have a stunningly cohesive outdoor area that is in alignment with their lifestyle and philosophy that includes sustainable practices.
