This radical landscaping was all transforming an underused urban ground into a lush, peaceful place where people come together to relax and meet. This included a diverse plant palette of native plants that were specifically chosen to survive in Georgia's climate and support biodiversity. We continued with a dynamic selection of ornamental grasses, blooming perennials, and shrubs that thrive in the shade, with a balance of colors and textures, season after season. The pathways are lined with decorative stone, flagstone hand-chosen from a local quarry to add to the aesthetic appeal while also serving as affordable access to the garden. The soil was a real struggle and we had to amend it heavily and install a large drainage infrastructure to allow the plantings to survive for years to come. We designed rain gardens to capture stormwater runoff, allowing the rain gardens to provide enhanced water quality treatment for the surrounding ecosystem, all while creating a sustainable environment our team worked hard to achieve. And the result is simply gorgeous. Today, the Restored Five Points Garden features comfortable seating areas to sit and take in the nature of the city. The client was extremely happy with the result, writing that the garden is now a communal touchstone with locals and visitors stopping by to take a look.
