Lincoln Park Parkway Summer 2015 Brent Riechers Landscape (BRL LANDesign) Service Areas: Chicago, Evanston, Lincolnwood In the most liveliest center of Lincoln Park, the - Lincoln Park Parkway is an evidence to the work and sustainable designs of Brent Riechers Landscape. In the summer of 2015, this massive turned an underused park into a beautiful urban park that finds the balance between nature and function. This encompassed a well thought out layout with different native plants, hardscaping, and active seating areas that encouraged community involvement. BRL LANDesign made these park pathways using locally sourced stone and durable, eco-friendly pavers that enhanced the park's aesthetic while ensuring durability and reduced environmental impact. An initial issue to be resolved with the site was with respect to existing drainage. Team BC introduced a pioneering rain garden system where reproduced stormwater runoff can be filtered and cleaned, in addition to supporting pollinators with a natural habitat. Not only did this solution bolster the ecological health of the park, it produced an attractive centerpiece to the visitors of this particular park. The complete design features a colourful selection of flowering perennials, ornamental grasses and shade trees that provide seasonal interest and imagery of a lush-filled landscape. Inviting cozy seating areas encourage an opportunity to unwind and indulge in conversation, and meandering pedestrian pathways suggest exploration. Artistic woven into the park, like the special benches and sculptures made with the natural stones and trees kept engrained to the park, all enhance the quaint atmosphere of the park. Not only did the Lincoln Park Parkway meet the needs of the client, but it also reintroduced the residents to some of the intrinsic benefits associated with nature. Our city has replaced asphalt with greenery, giving residents and visitors a beautiful space for recreation, relaxation and an appreciation for urban nature.
