About This Project

Herb Wall at Lincoln Park Hang It Well Clean+Green with Brent Riechers Landscape (BRL LANDesign): The Lincoln Park Herb Wall is a functional piece of art without sacrificing urban gardening style. This is located in the heart of Lincoln Park and is designed to maximize the use of an under utilized space into productive herb garden for culinary and ornamental practices. At the heart of the was the herb wall, which has a framework made from reclaimed cedar wood, which is quite strong and doesn't go bad as it is resistant to all weather. Vertical planters with a wide assortment of herbs, including basil, thyme, rosemary and mint, added a rustic, inviting touch. Ideal for the urban gardener, the vertical design maximizes space and provides access for harvesting. We wanted the herb wall to tie into the existing landscape but blend and fit within the overall garden. Our team masterfully crafted this by naturally weaving the stone accents reminiscent of the existing hardscaping to create a soothing transitional environment. Next, we used drip irrigation to make sure that the herbs are getting enough water and that we are wasting as little as possible, an initiative that showed our focus on sustainability. The end product is an attractive herb wall that not only adds visual value to the property, but also gives the homeowner access to fresh herbs whenever they want to get culinary. The client was very appreciative of the and told us the herb wall has become a centre point for family gatherings and a real pride in their home.
