Formal Garden with Low Water Plants This Stunning Formal Garden with Low Water Plants was completed by Hortus Design Sustainable Landscapes and is another example of how we can create a beautiful, practical and eco-sustainable garden in a Silicon Valley and The Peninsula setting. It perfectly combines historical symmetry with low-water plants, using less water and looking better! With beautifully placed locally sourced stone pathways that weave through the colorful display of low-water, drought tolerant plants- succulents, grasses, Mediterranean herbs. Permeable pavers and gravel allow water to flow (as it should) and discourage surface water runoff, which fits both with our mission and with an appreciation of how nature works. Foremost of our several challenges was to sensibly insert a formal layout within the natural setting. Building a dominant contour site wise schedule to strike the landscape that our highly revered team were strategically First class leveling and grading proved proficiently over the top ground. We also took this one step further by introducing a new type of drip irrigation system which not only increases the efficiency of water use, but also allows us to provide plants with the amount of water they need most. The end has produced a stunning formal garden full of greenery and symmetry, but that saves water. Our clients were over the moon with the results stating that not only had their garden improved their property pitch but complemented their hopes for sustainability.
