The 38 Square Meter Aesthetic Location: A part of Jakarta This combines modern-looking decorative elements with bright, colourful ones, and integrates them with open spaces that are directly connected to the inside of the house and represent the character and personality of the client. The front yard is an interesting combination of drought tolerant native plants (used to enhance curb appeal, while helping local biodiversity, too). Modern features like the permeable pavers we used help to manage rainwater. The entrance is framed with a custom designed steel trellis with climbing vines. We had a bit of a mountain to work with out back yet were able to manipulate the sloped landscape into a tiered oasis. We built terraced gardens out of local boulders which serve as a focal point of interest but also allow for spaces to participate in planting. In contrast, the colorful tapestry of flowering perennials and ornamental grasses offers an ideal palette that not only flourishes in the California climate, but brings seasonal interest year round. We added a beautiful wooden deck to create a smooth flow onto a delightful seating area for entertaining or kicking back while you soak in the natural surroundings. Through our selection of sustainable materials and design we have created an ecologically sustainable landscape including the sowing of nectar plants. Despite the difficult terrain and the requirement of minimal disruption to the rest of the ecosystem, the progressed and finished on time and on budget. The happy client was pleased with the final product, commenting on the combination of modern design and natural feeling.
