An arresting terraced garden photo showing a sustainable, artistic turning point from the previous underused sloped backyard We first worked through the challenges associated with the steep slope, which necessitatedengineering the space to be functional yet beautiful. Using local stone and recycled ground bricks, we built a series of interlocking terraces to both beautify the landscape and also help in increasing soil retention and avoiding soil erosion. Around each terrace, a variety of native plants, which are suited to the climate, are planted. The garden is a beautiful mix of color and texture with flowering perennials and glorious fragrance from herbs it looks good all through the seasons. We introduced natural wood pathways as well, connecting the terraces while also encouraging movement through the surrounding nature. The main hurdle was to come up with an effective irrigation system without compromising our green ideology. We use a water conserving drip irrigation system that gives the adequate water required for each plant. This improves the overall health of the garden and is also in line with the client values. The end result is a stunning terraced sanctuary, a peaceful retreat in the clients own garden. The homeowner was thrilled with the change stating that the space not only now functions as a family and friends gathering space, but also a nook she could escape to for solitude and contemplative thoughts.
