Date: April to May 2013 Custom Arbor Water Feature Backyard Retreat At Hortus Design Sustainable Landscapes, we are committed to reshaping the great outdoors into beautiful sanctuaries. This ethos is perfectly showcased in our newest the Backyard Retreat with Custom Arbor & Water Feature serving clientele across Silicon Valley and The Peninsula. We started this with a vision of creating an oasis where nature and aesthetic elegance come together. According to her, the difficulties presented by the sloped yard both in terms of functionality and looks needed to be dealt with through creativity. We had our hand-made custom arbor from solid cedar put up that gives shade as well as a visually striking focal point in the entrance area. In the arbor, there is a creeping vine that crisscrosses the arbor, giving it greater character. At the heart of the retreat is an alluring water feature that trickles into a pebble-edged pond, attracting wildlife and creating a gentle sound. Natural stones were chosen along with organic material for minimal intrusion on the existing landscape, complemented by an intelligent irrigation system that looks after the greenery almost automatically. We designed the water feature with native plants that flourish our environment so it would require minimal maintenance and water conservation. A deviously serpenting reclaimed stone pathway meanders between colorful flower beds, beckoning visitors with their bright colors and pleasant scents as they permeate the air. The end product is a stellar backyard that satisfies the client's dream of an oasis and increases the overall value of their property. Taking something so ordinary, having an amazing eye for design coupled with impeccable workmanship, our detail oriented design process has left our client in love with their new oasis, and yet another beautiful reminder of how nature and elegance can go hand in hand with Hortus Design.
