About This Project

Jack's Pond by Hess Landscape Architects Situated centrally in Lansdale, Jack's Pond embodies Hess Landscape Architects’ principles and philosophy of designing tranquil outdoor spaces with nature in mind. This took a modest size backyard and converted it into a peaceful retreat with an exceptional, naturalistic pond at the heart of the design. A variety of native aquatic plants were introduced to create a living ornamental, and to provide an additional ecosystem to support wildlife, while enhancing the aesthetic value. High quality and durable materials were selected including locally sourced stone for the pond's edging and a custom-built wooden deck that complemented the surrounding-area. One of the major site challenges visited was Chinese managing the sites natural drainage patterns. A biofiltration was added for runoff management and to even improve the water quality of the pond. The end result is a stunning landscape to relax and reflect. The pond is linked via a winding flagstone pathway to intimate seating areas and generous perennial gardens that bloom during the seasons. Jack's Pond have develop into a part of the client’s home they never want to part with, providing a place for family gatherings and a private place to pause.
