Bryn Mawr Residence The Bryn Mawr Residence , completed by Hess Landscape Architects, is a signature for us at Hess that highlights our aesthetic and technical excellence. Located in the heart of Lansdale, this residential transformation involved nearly complete hardscape and softscape redesign that produced a beautiful and useful outdoor retreat. The featured a complicated arrangement of native plantings that were chosen for their seasonal attraction potential and ecological impact. We introduced a diverse range of perennial plants, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs, all intended to thrive in the local climate and attract pollinators. To enhance the outdoor experience, we also designed and installed a custom bluestone patio, blending harmoniously with the natural stone paths that traverse the property. Reclaimed wood raised garden beds contributed to the rustic aesthetic, while their reuse emphasized sustainability. One major challenge with the site was the sloping terrain, which involved developing drainage protocols for longevity and usability of the outdoor spaces. Our team regraded the landscape and introduced a rain garden to allow for runoff mitigation, but also contribute a striking focal point for the landscape, bursting with colorful blooms and ornamental grasses. Ultimately, the final product is a landscape that meets the needs of the Bryn Mawr family; the landscape is an attractive place to spend time, entertain, and have family gatherings. The clients were overjoyed with their new outdoor experience and praised Hess Landscape Architects for our attention to detail, commitment to quality materials, and ability to realize their vision for the outdoor space. Not only did the landscape enhance the aesthetics of their home, it also increased the value of their home and provided environmental benefits.
