About This Project

Marshall from Magee Design Located in Aldie, Virginia, the 'Marshall' is the pinnacle of landscape design and a testament to Magee Design’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship. This large residential site presented a number of challenges due to its sloped terrain that had different soil conditions. Armed with these challenges, the team at Magee design created a multi-level garden that beautified the property while providing drainage and accessibility. In the center of the design is a beautiful stone patio made from local bluestone and reviews. It is a durable design element, and an elegant place for outdoor entertaining. We installed a selection of native plants with seasonal interest surrounding the patio including flowering perennials and woody shrubs that provides color year-round and maximizes the native ecosystem. Ornamental trees were placed at particular locations to add shade and create interest through seasonal changes and to provide privacy transforming the space to a natural oasis. In order to address the high level of erosion through the sloped areas we created multiple dry creek beds and terraced flower beds to diminish erosive forces while elevating form and visual appeal. All gardens were hand-selected and the final detailing was achieved with the highest quality materials to fit camouflage and blend with the existing landscape. The final product of the 'Marshall' is a landscape that exceeds the clients vision, and is breathtaking. In addition to the natural beauty of the finished works, we accomplished functional appeal. This newly created outdoor space is valuable as a place for family gatherings or for some quietness in nature. Magee Design is happy to have transformed this property into a beautiful natural landscape that furthers the way our client engages in life while complementing the character of Aldie, Ashburn, Leesburg, and beyond.
