Greater Heights by L3 Designs In the beating heart of Houston’s vibrant suburbs, the ‘Greater Heights’ exemplified L3 Designs’ commitment to quality and innovation in landscaping. Working with a diverse portfolio of clients throughout Alief, Barker, Bellaire, Bunker Hill Village, and beyond, that reimagined a broad residential property into a tranquil outdoor oasis. The design initiated with an intensive site analysis that surveyed the unique topography and microclimates of the landscape. Our talented designer then carefully selected regionally native plants suited to the local climate, which naturally provided an environmentally sustainable landscape requiring minimally invasive long-term care. A variety of colorful flowering shrubs, ornamental grasses, and an impressive collection of trees provided shade and a visual presence throughout the seasons. The most notable and memorable aspect of the Greater Heights is the custom-designed stone path, constructed from locally-sourced granite, that provides both a means of physical access through the landscape as well as a means of discovering cleverly situated seating and secluded garden nooks. Water features, including a pond complete with a tiered waterfall, were nicely incorporate into the design to improve the auditory experience as well as promote wildlife in the garden. Challenges presented, including uneven grade and drainage, were effectively addressed through grading and an efficient irrigation system with future flooding mitigation potential. This solution ensured that all plants would not only receive adequate water as they adjusted to their new landscape but minimize unnecessary water usage in the future. The final is a beautiful landscape that blends style with function, providing an ideal outdoor area for relaxing and entertaining.
