River Oaks by L3 Designs Located in the heart of Houston's bustling River Oaks area, L3 Designs' River Oaks landscaping is a true example of great design and craftsmanship. The was completed in a beautiful residential area featuring a well-balanced palette of native plants, hardscaping, and outdoor living space that collectively respond to the existing architecture. The design process began with a full assessment of the site considering the site's unique topography and native vegetation. With a thoughtfulness towards ecology and sustainability, the team incorporated drought-resistant plants- like Texas sage and ornamental grasses- that would require less water use and less maintenance. One of the challenges presented was the sloping lot. This was successfully transformed into tiered garden beds that help with erosion, but provide elevated interest and depth. A dramatic path of locally-sourced flagstone meanders through the landscape, guiding visitors past vibrant flower beds and water features with custom-built fountains that are soothing and calming. The outdoor living area included a large patio of permeable pavers providing functional drainage while also creating an elegant entertaining space. With the care and thoughtfulness to look for quality, detailed materials were specified that support the durability and beauty of the setting. Beyond the space exceeding the client's expectations, the final outdoor room was truly a start to finish journey transforming the outdoor space to a beautiful asset to the property. The perfect greenery and well-timed low-voltage lighting creates an evening glow that invites the space for gatherings or for a private escape.
