Handout: Walkways & Driveways by J. Bucci Landscape Design J. Bucci Landscape Design recently completed a Walkways & Driveways in a picturesque area of one of New Jersey's beach communities, which highlights aesthetics and usability. Our company service areas include Barnegat to Long Beach Island. The focused on improving the outdoor space and accessibility to the home of a quaint beach house. The included designing and installing a creative walkway and driveway using natural stone colored pavers. The design complements the coastal surroundings. We took care to select control quality pavers that would withstand a coastal setting and still look aesthetically pleasing. The design included gentle curves which create a graceful path to the front door, and also direct the flow of the pathway with the landscaping. The property was extremely steep which presented a challenge for proper drainage of stormwater. We took the time to design the problem utilizing permeable pavers. The pavers allow stormwater to pass through while maintaining the scale of the walkway. There were multiple benefits of utilizing the permeable pavers: they solved the client’s drainage problem, and they are a great way to conduct sustainable landscaping practices. The final touches to the were installing landscape lighting along the walkway to illuminate the pathway in the evenings while enhancing safety, and planting appropriate native plants around the borders of the stone pathways to create colors and attract wildlife. The converted walkway and driveway are truly a awe-inspiring change that our clients were thrilled with, and now have a beautiful, usable entrance to their beach house.
